The people of Wild Hare
Owner / Director of Vintage and Goods
Summer was raised by a family of out-of-the-box thinkers. Raised in New Mexico, she learned how to get the most from what she had. Growing up thrifting with her dad, and surrounded by her grandparents that had treasures from many adventures, she discovered a love of antiques. “My grandparents had lots of treasures from their time as teachers in rural Alaska and that love really rubbed off on me.” Summer’s love of sustainability came around long before she knew what that was. “I've always believed in having one item that can do many jobs. There’s no use in having something that can’t keep up.”
Director of Botanicals
Our resident plant lady, Kate, is a Pacific Northwest native who had an appreciation for nature instilled in her from a young age. Growing up on a small lake on the outskirts of Issaquah, she spent her summers picking wild huckleberries and blackberries with her Papa and begrudgingly weeding Cattail Ferns from her mother’s garden. These days, she fuels her love for plant life by finding the perfect botanical buddy for your home, as well as giving new life to the tools and accessories you’ll need to nurture your new housemates.
Kate pairs each and every plant in our shop with its perfect vintage vessel. Trailing pothos plants cascade from hanging kettles, avocado trees grow wildly from beautiful vases and collectible jars, and antique coffee cans play host to a wide variety of ferns so beloved by the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, she offers plant care & styling consultations.
Blog Coordinator / Illustrator
Katie Jervey was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Freshman year of high school, Katie met Summer and became quick friends. Over the last ten years, Summer and Katie found themselves together again in Seattle. Summer introduced Katie to the wonderful world of repurposed used goods, and a business idea that Katie immediately wanted to be a part of. “I’ve always thought that Summer had such a unique personal aesthetic, people love her vision, it cannot be replicated.” Katie enjoys embroidering, sign painting, illustrating and helping coordinate the website for Wild Hare.
